Magazine test 7 blades rated

In February 2022, Auto Express tested 22-inch wiper blades on a Land Rover Discovery 4, assessing dry wiping with washer jets, hose-simulated rain, judder, noise, lifting at motorway speeds, installation ease, and value. Bosch Aerotwin placed first with five stars and earned the Best Buy rating, followed closely by Trico Exact Fit Kit in second place with five stars. The remaining ranked positions went to Aerowiper in third, Michelin Stealth Hybrid in fourth, Halfords Advanced Flat Silicone Wiper Blade in fifth, Wipac Storm X in sixth, and Vipa Blade Set in seventh with 2.5 stars.

Rather than the one-piece flat blades of every rival here, the Michelins use an old-fashioned bridged wiper to help it wrap round a curved screen

Hagerty UK, 2021

Magazine test 6 blades rated

In September 2021, Hagerty UK evaluated 22-inch wiper blades fitted to a Land Rover Discovery, testing them in simulated heavy rain, with washer jets in dry conditions, and for noise, ease of fitting, value, and lifting at motorway speeds. Bosch Aerotwin won first place with a top score of 10 points, followed by runners-up Aerowiper with 9 points and Michelin Stealth Hybrid with 8 points. WIPAC Storm X placed fourth with 6 points, while Halfords Advanced Silicone Wiper Blade and VIPA Blade Set took the lowest ranks with 5 points each.

These blades might be old tech but Michelin clearly thinks there’s no need to reinvent the wheel – the Stealth Hybrids wiped away our simulated downpours without any issues.

In January 2018, Auto Express tested wiper blades on a five-star rating scale, assessing clean wiping, noise levels on a dry screen, ease of fitting, and price-based value. Bosch Aerotwin took first place as the only product to receive five stars. Michelin Stealth Hybrid finished second with four stars, while Valeo Silencio X.TRM Flat placed ninth with three stars.

The name suits the Michelin because it was by far the quietest wiper blade we tested.

Magazine test 9 blades rated

In May 2017, Auto Express tested nine wiper blades on a 2007 SEAT Leon, evaluating smear-free wiping efficiency, noise on a dry screen, clarity of instructions, ease of fitting, and price. Bosch Aerotwin took first place with five stars, while Michelin Stealth Hybrid finished in second place with four stars. The unranked models also tested were Trico ExactFit, Valeo HydroConnect, Wiperblades Aerowiper, Champion Easyvision, Lucas Clearvision Direct Fit, Halfords FW15, and Valeo Silencio X.TRM Flat.

A well earned second place as the Michelin was the quietest blade we tested, and delivered an excellent wipe. It cleared our screen with ease, and left no smears.

In August 2016, Auto Express tested windshield wiper blades on a 2007 SEAT Leon, evaluating them on clean wiping without smears, dry windshield noise, instructions, ease of fitting, and price. Bosch Aerotwin came out on top in first place, followed by Michelin Stealth Hybrid in second and Wiperblades Aerowiper in third. The remaining positions went to Trico ExactFit in fourth, Halfords FW15 in fifth, Champion Easyvision in sixth, Lucas Clearvision Direct Fit in seventh, and Valeo Silencio X.TRM Flat in eighth.

Michelin’s Stealth Hybrid design obviously suited the longer blades, and just pips previous test runner- up Wiperblades’ Aerowiper.

In September 2014, Auto Express evaluated wiper blades on a Skoda Octavia test car by grading streak-free clearing at highway speeds, quiet operation on dry glass, installation instructions, ease of fitting, and price. Bosch Aerotwin achieved the number one ranking, while Wiper Blades Aerowiper placed second as the budget pick, and Halfords Flat Wiper Blade Set finished ninth.
